Description

SALT FROM THE ISLAND OF AWAJI 75 Gr

This salt is harvested in Goshikicho, on the island of Awaji, considered in Japanese mythology as the original land.

Once harvested, the salt crystallises naturally when dried in the sun.

It is then slowly roasted with wood shavings to bring out its iodised flavour before being left to settle in cedar barrels.

Salt typically represents 1% of the volume of seawater used, and this rare salt represents 1/10 of the volume of salt extracted from seawater.

Without additives or preservatives, it preserves the minerals and trace elements present in seawater.

Flavour:

Awaji Island salt has a unique umami taste that is achieved through the traditional manufacturing method and slow, natural crystallisation.

It has a beautiful crystallised appearance and a mild and subtle salty taste.

Large chunks of this salt melt like snowflakes in the mouth.

Use:

This fine-grained finishing salt is perfect with wasabi to accompany steak, with sea bream or squid sprinkled with lemon juice, or to enhance the natural flavours of grilled or steamed vegetables.

You can also use this salt in a salad of raw vegetables with a drizzle of olive oil.
